How do I ask for a review?
Put your review link into a button on the message. The customer taps the button and lands directly on your review form or product page — no copying, no searching. Keep the message itself short: one sentence of context, one clear ask, one button.
Which platform you point that button at changes the ask. If you are collecting on Google, the link format, the wording that works and the rules Google applies to review requests are set out step by step in collect Google reviews via WhatsApp.
How do I trigger it after a purchase?
- Create a flow and open the Starting point.
- Choose the trigger event Contact purchase (Shopify event).
- Narrow the audience with filters if you want — for example Product Name, Product Category or Order count.
- Add a Delay block so the ask arrives after the product has actually been delivered.
- Add a Message block with your review link as a button, then save and activate the flow.
The delay is the part people get wrong. Asking before the parcel arrives produces no review, or a bad one. For what the trigger itself does and which filters it offers, see Flow trigger: Contact Purchase.
Can I ask past customers too?
Yes — that's the newsletter route. Build a segment of the contacts who bought a specific product in the Segment Builder, then send them one newsletter with the review button. It's the fastest way to collect a batch of reviews for a product you're pushing, without waiting for new orders to come in.
What should I watch out for?
- Ask once. A review request that repeats reads as pressure and costs you opt-ins.
- Set the opt-in level filter on the flow so you only message contacts with sufficient consent — see opt-in levels for what each level permits.
- If someone replies with a problem instead of a review, that lands in your inbox — treat it as support, not as a failed campaign.
