Segments: Detail View

How do I open the segment detail view?

Open Audience in the main navigation and switch to the Segments tab. Click a segment name in the list to open its detail view. The header shows the segment name and the system description of what the segment contains.

Three buttons sit in the header:

  • Split — divides the segment into two subgroups, Group A and Group B, straight from the detail view.
  • Edit — opens the segment in the Segment Builder.
  • Close — closes the detail view and returns you to the segment list.

What does the contact list show?

Below the header you see the total number of contacts in the segment and a search field that searches inside this segment only. Each row carries the contact's core data:

  • Name and WhatsApp — who the contact is and the number you reach them on.
  • Last activity — when the contact was last active.
  • Opt-in level — how you are allowed to contact this person.
  • RFM — the purchase-behaviour group Keaz assigned to the contact.
  • Total revenue — what the contact has spent in your shop.
  • Inbox button — opens the chat with this contact in the Inbox.

Click a contact to open the Contact Card directly from the segment detail view. You get the full contact record — orders, labels, segments and activity feed — without switching pages.

Two of the columns need a bit of background. Opt-in level decides whether you may send marketing at all — how subscribing and unsubscribing works explains the four levels. RFM groups contacts by how recently, how often and how much they buy; our guide to RFM segmentation for Shopify stores covers what to do with each group.

How do I filter contacts inside a segment?

You can narrow the list without opening the Segment Builder. Filters applied here are temporary: they change what you see, not what the segment contains.

  1. Click Filters in the top right to open the filter panel.
  2. Click Add filter and pick a condition from the list.
  3. Check Applied filters to see everything currently active on the list.
  4. Click Clear all filters to go back to the full segment.

How do I turn a filter into a new segment?

Turn filters into a segment converts the filter you have applied into a new segment. An ad-hoc question — say, everyone in this segment who has ordered more than twice — becomes a target group you can send to again next month.

The new segment behaves like any other. You can refine it later in the Segment Builder, split it for an A/B test, or send a newsletter to it.

Which filters are available?

The panel combines shop data and WhatsApp behaviour in one list, so you can ask questions that span both.

Shop data

  • Country, Phone country code, Label
  • Average order value, Last purchase, Order count, Total revenue
  • RFM group, Predicted spend tier
  • Clicked a button, Clicked a button at

WhatsApp data

  • Interacted with WhatsApp, Interacted with WhatsApp at
  • Message could not be delivered
  • Received a flow, Received a flow at
  • Received a newsletter, Received a newsletter at
  • Received a keyword, Received a keyword at
  • Received a message, Received a message at
  • Opt-in level

The same filter panel is available one level up in the Contacts overview, where it searches your whole contact base instead of one segment.

How do I split or edit the segment from here?

Split divides the segment into Group A and Group B, which is the setup you want for an A/B test. Edit opens the segment in the Segment Builder so you can change its conditions. Both are reachable without going back to the segment list.

If you want to talk to someone in the list right away, use the Inbox button on their row — it drops you into the conversation view with that contact.

Frequently asked questions

Do filters in the detail view change the segment?
No. Filters here are temporary and only affect the list you are currently looking at. If you want to keep the selection, use Turn filters into a segment.
Can I write to a contact from the segment detail view?
Yes. Every row has an Inbox button that opens the chat with that contact in the Inbox.
What is Split for?
Split divides a segment into two subgroups, Group A and Group B. That is what you use for A/B tests, for example two newsletter variants sent to comparable halves of the same audience.
How do I create a segment from scratch?
Go to Audience, open the Segments tab and click Create new segment. That opens the Segment Builder, where you define the conditions.
